Boom ¿¿¿xp Kernal Time Spiking???

Whenever I use a lot of proccessor power(like when I play a game), my computer will slow down to or almost to stopping, when this happens the task manager shows the red line going way up(you must select performance, view, show kernal times), and I'm pretty sure thats why my computer keeps slowing down, this happens on EVERYTHING, even rollercoaster tycoon, does anyone have any idea at all why this is happening or what i can do to fix it.

Note: Reinstalled windows, worked fine, but thern it started doing this again;
running micro$oft widows xp home edition. It does this very often while playing a game, i'd say theres more down-time than running.

Computer:Compaq 533OUS: 1.7 pentium 4, 512 mb ram, 60 Gb hdd, 64mb GFORCE MX 2

not as dumb as i sound, lol, there's a serious problem here, nobody i know has any idea why it does this.

Did you open it up and clean out all the dust bunnies?

Sorry, jackmanplus, I'm not much of an Intel or Compaq person... Other than knowing they will slow down when running hot, I don't have any other clues.

Anybody else have an idea?
