Outlook Express problems

After a virus scan, there were 2 viruses found but were of the not fatal type according to the virus program. It recommended quarantining them. After I did this I tried to open up outlook express and got two error windows.
The 1st one said “Outlook express could not be started. The application was unable to open the Outlook express message store. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full.Contact Microsoft support for further assistance. (0x8007000E)” Then after I exited out of the 1st one another window pops up. It says Outlook Express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialized. Outlook Express may not be
installed correctly.
I did a search for msoe.dll and found some sites that would help for money. One said “To resolve this behavior, back up your Outlook Express data, and manually remove and reinstall Outlook Express.” One thing I don`t understand, how do I back things up if it won`t load?
Thanks for any help.
Rick

As long as you are reasonably certain that your antivirus program has taken care of the infected files, for a quick fix try you can see if a repair reinstall of your version of IE helps (since Outlook Express usually arrives as part of the download - and most folks still have the download on their hard drives after they update, so the repair reinstall can be done offline in only a few minutes). In Win9x, go to Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information . . . and from the "Tools" menu, select "Repair Internet Explorer". Or go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs...select IE, and choose to repair.

[might want to run a doublecheck antivirus scan with an online scanner like HouseCall, just to be sure the computer is cleaned up OK http://housecall.trendmicro.com ]

Thanks for the help Gary but I am still getting those errors. I did run the online virus scan and it didn`t find anything. I went to Microsoft to find an answer but they want to charge $35 for the email question. Thanks for your help.
