As I said, ack. I have just installed SP2 for Windows XP Home on my Athlon laptop. When I restarted, it sent me to the window that says something went wrong, and would you like to "start Windows normally" or "use the last good configuration" etc. Fine. Except that when I choose to start Windows normally it simply goes back to that same page. Same thing if I try the last good configuration. So I am without a computer or a clue. Can someone help me with this? Much obliged in advance!

What happens if you choose Safe Mode from the menu = will it boot then?
If so, you might want to go into Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs and see if SP2 is on the list - and select Remove if it's available. This might well restore your laptop to a usable condition. Then check with your laptop vendor for any issues with SP2. You'll certainly want to check with them if the uninstall of SP2 either doesn't work or isn't available. ----------- This is just a quick reply - if you continue to have problems, post again, and we'll take a more in-depth look around for answers. There might be quite a few workarounds since SP2 has been afoot for awhile. . . . Gary |

Hey Gary, thanks very much for the response. Nothing really worked! I wound up biting the bullet and reinstalling everything from the recovery DVD. A headache to get back on foot, but cleaner and easier in the end. I do have some more questions related to this, but I think it's best to put them in another message. Thanks again.
