Registry settings not taken into account by CMD.exe
I have changed my shell to Cmd.exe(instead of the default explorer.exe), but windows fails to take into account the registry setting EnableAutodial{1}. As soon as I start up explorer.exe from the prompt, my computer autoconnects to my ISP. Is the registry linked to explorer? If so, how could I make my computer autoconnect to my ISP from Cmd.exe? This is a puzzle for me(I am a begginer with Win XP).

Here is a link to a page with all the command grammar ("syntax") and parameters for cmd.exe in Windows XP - http://thesystemguard.com/TheGuardBo...Cmd-XP.txt.htm
And here is a link to an overview, plus many related links, for cmd.exe in XP - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/h...lloverview.asp And yet another cmd.exe page - see the list of links at the bottom: many topics covered there. http://www.petri.co.il/customize_com..._2000_2003.htm --------------------------- Did you mean to say you were starting iexplore.exe? (which connects to your ISP)? --------------------------- Any reason you feel the need to do away with the GUI? After all, XP was designed with that in mind. . . . Gary |
