USB External hard drive probs
Here I go...
I have this external HD that XP Pro won't recognise. Actually device manager shows all is well with the drive. No conflicts etc... It shows up as a "WDC WD40 0JB-00ENA0 USB device" under the disks portion. In the USB portion it shows up as "USB mass storage device." Both as stated above with NO conflicts of any kind. The problem is that it doesn't show up in windows explorer. I'm running Win XP Pro on a P4 2.8C on a Intel 865PERL MB, 512 RAM. Other USB devices include my printer(HP) and a scanner(Vissioneer). I've tried rebooting, different USB ports, refreshing the view in explorer, all without any luck...any ideas from you experts out there? All help is appreciated! Thanks, |

Did you partition and format the drive yet? You need to do that in Disk Management. No partition, no drive letter.
