Unable to boot in safe mode. Help

I got hit with a ton of hijackers and viruses yesterday. I spent most of this afternoon cleaning them out. Some that were a little tougher I attempted to safe boot and clear them out that way. Thats when I found that I can't boot in safe mode. I believe all the bugs are out now.
Any ideas?
I run XP pro on a P4 system

Switch on your computer and switch it off again before XP has chance to load, doing this two or three times will cause XP to automatically boot to the safe mode options screen.

Hi rjfvillarosa,

Thank you for replying. The suggestion didn't work. I do get a dos screen that asks to select the boot device: Removable Dev, Hard Drive or ATAPI CD-ROM.
I just exit out and XP boots up.
Any other suggestions.
Can I bring back my system a few days ago to before the problem started?

I forgot to mention that I have recently installed a third drive. Could it be something with my BIOS setup?
Also I occasionally empty my waste bin and I now get a warning that saids are you sure you want to delete Windows?
interesting.

Sounds like it's time for a repair/install.

Repair you XP installation by booting to the XP cd, selecting "new installation" (not the Recovery Console), and when it tells you XP is already installed and asks you to repair that installation do so. If you get any more blue screen errors, copy the exact STOP error and post it.

Have you tried removing the third drive and attempting a "system restore"?
