Win98SE backup to CD?

How do I get 98SE to BACKUP to my CD-RW or DVD-RW instead of just FILE.
In BACKUP when I go to: TOOLS -> MEDIA-> = NO DEVICES.
Yes, I do have working CD/DVD burners.
EDIT: Added info... Running Roxio EZ CD/DVD 6

The "Microsoft Backup" accessory that ships with Win98/98se doesn't support backup to CD/DVD disks. I imagine that there are many freeware/shareware utilities around, as well as modestly priced retail programs, that would do.

Disks are so cheap now, I just use Nero and use a stored set of folders. Quick and easy. I have an old version of Nero . . . it might be that the newer Nero suites, which come with everything & the kitchen sink, might have a backup utility included. Same might be true of Roxio. Hunt around in your Roxio help files, they might have one hidden away in a menu somewhere. And the price is right (free- if you already own it!).
. . . Gary

98's backup is only compatible with tape drives. You can backup to file (700mb or less) then burn the file with Roxio - to direct burn you need 3rd party software.

Thanks for the info.
Was wondering why I seemed to be given a choice where to back up to, but couldn't activate any DEVICE.
Appreciate your time.

Roxio 6 does have an option to create a bootable disk: Creator classic Help topic>BACKUP... Provided BIOS allows Bootable CD-ROM support.
Thanks for the pointer
