1 Windows CD on 2 comps
The title says it all, i just connected 2 comps to same internet connection and I have 1 windows xp cd. its activated on one comp, on the other comp its installed but it wont let me activate it (limit exceed it says) DO you really need to have 2 Windows CDs? you cant share one windows cd in THE SAME HOUSE???
or am i just doing somthing wrong? I have 18 days left to activate it. what happens when that time is up anyway? |

You would need a seperate copy for each computer, or at least two key codes and coa's.

The End user Licensing Agreement...ONE computer per license. That's it. You can buy another CD with license, or buy another license for a bit cheaper than what another CD would cost. Loading the software with one license on more than one system is piracy.

aw, that sux, I mean its in the same house, theres still only 1 owner, just on 2 comps. sigh... ok guess ill get another one.

The EULA is pretty clear, one license one PC, you may be confusing the OS EULA with the MS Office EULA which does allow the Office product to be installed on one desktop and one laptop for 'away' use, as long as the two are not be used at the same time.
Another way to think of the OS EULA is the tags on your car, if you own more than one car you can not just switch the plates and the tags to the one that you are driving today, the one license (tag) one PC (car) idea is not new, just the enforcement of the rule is.
