No its page file usage. When in doubt read the help provided in Windows.

Thanks guys. Getting lazy I guess about using help files. Ok next question: what does 'page file' mean? I have never heard of the term. I'll have to check help files, right?

Tried webopedia before. No help. Gives me a definition of 'page' and 'file'.
I look in xp help when I get a chance. |

The pagefile is virtual memory, also known as a swapfile. Windows will "swap" data into the pagefile when the physical working ram is full.

GLC, Nice to hear from you again. Is the first window of pf section the amount of memory alocated? Mine says 256 mgs with the cpu at idle. I suppose the graf to the right shows it's actual use after ram is used up. Am I right??
Thanks. Doug |

no.
I belive that is the actual usage of the cpu in percentage of cycle time you can change the settings of that to monitor just about anything you want. I just have not played around too much with it. there is some great books you can get on xp that will explane how to do a lot of thes things in xp, you would not beleve the power that is actuall in this O/S Last edited by bailey; 11-18-2004 at 01:43 AM. |
