Windows VM [java] & HP 1210 psc script erorrs

I got an HP 1210 psc about a year ago. The scanner worked fine until I moved from IE 5.5 to IE 6. Then I started gettting script errors. I got a newer HP driver and that seemed to fix the problem [but then I had other issues, like the program wouldn't start].

I now have Win 2000. I can't run the scanner function at all. HP has all sorts of solutions... most that don't work.

Recently I read a post that claims to solve the problem once and for all. The OS was Win 98 though... What they say is that Microsoft left out the VM [Vritual Machine] Java, and that needs to be replaced. Also, I'll need to replace a program called DAC 8? .

Can anyone explain to me why this would work and would it work with Windows 2000 instead of 98? I've had this scanner for a year and it only worked right for a few months or so.

Are you using the same driver for Win2k that you did on the old OS (Win98)? If so it will not work. You need a driver for Windows200 or whatever OS you have to get it to work. Unfortunately with HP, that means buying the driver CD.

There are some other cleanup utilities and patches too - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...&dlc=en&os=181
