Wierd problem with XP

ok. this is the problem. i'we installed XP (with and without SP1) and some of my programs just don't work.
to be more precise, those programs (bsplayer, atv2000, christv and others) run only once, after i first instll them. then if i try to stat them, there is a small amount of hdd activity and the .. nothin. the prog doesnt appear even in the procces tab of taskman. it's like i haven't enes started it.
if i reinstal the program, i can stat it once, it works fine, but after i close it i get that problem. there is no error message, no nothing.
a friend of mine has the same problem, so i guess it's something to do with the software.
any help? any ideeas? anyone enounterd the same problem?

What are the other specs of your computer?

Try AdAware and Spybot. It sounds like it may possibly be spyware.

At first i'we had XP pro - no problem
I'we installed SP1 - still no prob.
No major changes in hardware or sofware.
just a reinstalation (overinstal) of XP. - the beginig of the problem (at first just bsplayer)
so i'we done a clean instal of xp. still nothing.
then i'we installed SP1. still the same problem.

my pc:
Duron, 1200 MHz
128 SDRam
20 GB HDD
OnBoard video, audio. -- crappy "don't kow what" motherboard.
no adware, no spyware. no viruses, no worms.
no internet conection.
my next option is the famous "format c:"

Are you running the program as admin? Do you have adequate permissions to the program or drive where it is installed? Have you checked your logs for any error reports?
