Wied SP 2 after effect`
After I downloaded Windows SP 2 my pc started having a new window pop up afer ever restart. It says
qttask.exe NO Disk There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into the drive\Device\Harddisk1\DR3 then i can either hit cancel, try again, continue, or x out of the window there are 5 of those windows right behind each other after pc restart, so i have to hit x 5 times before the pc will finally finish loading. I have run mcafee and spyware and no problems have been found Any suggestions? |

What did you end up doing to fix it?

As much as I like QuickTime, I dislike the StartCenter type of program that loads at startup, because each program development team seems to think that their software has to run every second of every day that your computer is turned on. Strange behavior like this can be the result, and it's really just sloppy coding.
I'll post a copy of the fix used by many folks, this particular reply from a member of the TechGuy.org forums - so that others following this thread can view the likely solution: ------------------------------ Stop Qttask error without disabling Qt You don't have to disable QuickTime or remove the QuickTime systray icon to clear up the "qttask.exe" error that complains about "No disk in drive. Please insert disk." This error occurs when you have used QuickTime to view a video file that you had stored on a removable disk, such as a CR-ROM, that is no longer in place. ... Like many other applications, the QuickTime viewer keeps track of your last few most recently viewed files. If one of those recently viewed files was on a removable drive, QT barfs when it starts up at boot time and can't find the file. The Fix: Fire up QuickTime (double click on the icon in your systray); Select "File > OpenRecent > ClearMenu". This will clear the most recently viewed files and eliminate the boot-time error message without requiring you to uninstall QT or remove the icon from your systray. --------------------------------- Talk about your easy fixes! Of course, removing qttask.exe from your startup files also works --- I usually remove it immediately after installing QuickTime, but that's just because I find it extremely annoying and wasteful. QuickTime fires up in less than a second for any task I need it for, without the nonsensical background job hanging about . . . but this is just my personal preference. . . . Gary |

THis worked for me for realplayer:
To disable realsched.exe try the following (tested on RealPlayer Version 10.0): Open the realplayer Choose Tools → Preferences Category → Automatic Services → Message Center Press "Configure Message Center..." Remove selection of "Checking" → Check for new messages confirm the warning |
