If i install xp home and not use the puter online, do i have to register xp? Will the software shutdown after 30 days? is there a way of getting around this?

With windows XP you do not have to register it, but the new thing is called activation and 1 way or another you do have to activate it. Either online or by calling an 800 number provides. I think it will run for 30 days without being activated then will not work..

1) You do not have to register XP .. however you have to ACTIVATE XP. It does not matter if you are online or not, you have 30 days to activate XP before it locks out.
If you cannot connect to the internet (note I am giving you the benefit of doubt here), then activation will also give you the option of calling Microsoft to activate.

2) Yes it will
