Welcome to PC Mech.
Are the driver files not on your motherboard CD? Try www.driverguide.com, use the user name "driver" and the password "all" both without the ", from the information you put in your post your search should be relatively simple. I just did a quick search for you and found this driver, it is a zip file, have you got a copy of winzip? I have scanned it and it is virus free. Just click on it to download it to your computer.

The best place to download the driver is from the computer or motherboard manufacturer, depending on whether this is a name brand computer or custom build. The AC97 is just a codec, the actual sound chip varies with motherboard model.

Follow this link to a number of drivers for that chipset, BUT can you post the model number of the board itself? A search on the Intel site did not reveal any drivers. Maybe we will need to be a little more specific.

You aren't going to find the right drivers on the Intel site unless that's an Intel branded motherboard. We really need the computer or motherboard model as already said.
