Boot with the Win98 CD or startup disk and run Fdisk. Create a primary dos partition of the desired size. Create an extended dos partition to occupy the rest of the drive. Create a logical drive or drives in the extended partition. Reboot to the startup disk or CD and setup Win98. Setup will format the primary partition for you. You can format the extended drive or drives in Windows.

are you sticking the new hdd into an existing computer that has another hdd and an os on it? if its going into a new system you will need a boot disk to get to fdisk so you can partition the drive and format and all that good stuff. if your sticking it in a older computer that already has another hdd, i dont know how to do it.
