make a folder, call it windows xp. then, go to your cd, copy the contents (select everything, and then copy (edit->copy or ctrl-c, whichever you fancy)), go to your folder, and paste (edit->paste or ctrl-v). it will copy the contents

I created a folder in local disc C. I put the CD in my D drive. I did a right click on it, selected copy. Opened the folder and pasted it. Thank you for your help!

what good would ot do to do that if sp1 and sp2 changes most of the files. it will be of no use then.
creating a restore point anytime after sp1 and sp2 would be of more use. Last edited by bailey; 12-03-2004 at 12:45 AM. |

Correct. IMO its nothing more than a royal waste of space to store your OS onto the CD drive. It used to be more useful in the days of Win98 when the CD would be needed everytime you made the most trivial changes (like changing TCP/IP settings), but for Win2000 and XP its wholly unecessary. Its not like you need the CD on a daily basis. Save yourself the 500MB space and get rid of it.
