I haven't had much experience with Acer but I have a friend who wants to update his Aspire 6120 to win2k. Anything to look out for with this brand?
Thanks.

I am kind of wondering if the bios will present a problem?
I don't see an update for it. |

I've installed 2K on some pretty old machines - the only bios issues I've encountered are related to ACPI and power management, the only thing you may lose is the full shutdown, you may have to hit the button to power it off when you get the "it's now safe" screen. This can sometimes be fixed by enabling APM in the Windows power options.
I believe that Win2K will have native driver support for everything in there, but if not, Acer doesn't have ANY Win2k drivers for that box. Looks to me like it has an ATI Rage Pro video card, ESS Solo sound card, and a Rockwell modem. Do yourself a favor - make sure it has at least 128mb ram and at least 5 gigs free hard drive space. |
