"Save As" Is Selective-Jpeg vs Bitmap

Good Morning

Please take a quick look at my previous post and reply(s) for the problem and my system and software. By selective, I mean when I'm on my side of the pc (I'm the administrator)and online I have no option for saving as a Jpeg file type, only bitmap, but when logged in on as another user and online we can use the "save as" file type Jpeg with the proper file name, not just "bitmap" and "untitled'. What's up that ? now I'm really messed up. Is a file or folder on my side corrupt. Note: the other user(s) don't use the Jasc Photo editor ! Just a thought. Does anyone here have any HELP

Thanks to those who help

Dick

Sorry, the only thing I have heard of is clearing out the internet cache for this one, may or may not work.

I hate to break the news to you but I've seen where there was "no fix" for this problem other than delete the account and create a new one, use another browser or reinstall XP. It is not related to a third party graphics program but rather a flaw with IE.

Just for the exercise did you try wiping the cache? sure you can recreate the account but why not try a quick fix...if it doesn't work...no loss

IE... Tools menu -> Internet Options... -> under 'Temporary Internet Files' click on delete files... then ok.

I dunno, worth a try.

That is totally false and bad advice IMO. Most of the time dumping your browser cache fixes it. The cache settings are user based which is why it works when logged in as another user. The same reason why creating a new account also works.

Sorry I've seen it too many times not to mention MS has even stated that there are cases when deleting the temp files won't work as well as the other suggested work arounds fail other than creating a new user account. I find it to be honest advice I didn't tell the user to just nuke & pave, I did give other options.

The first option should be to dump your cache. If that doesn't work, then time to try something else.

The other thread indicates that dumping the cache has already been tried. It IS time to try something else, so the advice given is legitimate.

This also shows why you should not open new threads concerning the same issue. You lose continuity, duplicate advice winds up being given, and misunderstandings occur. Keep replying to the original thread till the issue is solved or everyone gives up.

It would certainly have been helpful to know that there was another thread on this. Here is the full KB article from Microsoft. You might try the second part if you haven't already. I have highlighted that part in red.

1. Start Internet Explorer (if it is not already started).
2. Empty the contents of the Temporary Internet Files folder. To do so: a. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
b. Click the General tab.
c. Under Temporary Internet files, click Delete Files.
d. When you are prompted to delete all temporary Internet files, click OK.

3. In the Downloaded Program Files folder on your hard disk, remove the files that are listed as either Unknown or Damaged. To do so: a. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
b. Click the General tab.
c. Under Temporary Internet files, click Settings.
d. Click View Objects.

The list of program files that are downloaded to the SystemRoot\Downloaded Program Files folder on your hard disk appears in the Downloaded Program Files window.
e. In the Status column, note the files that are listed as either Unknown or Damaged. Remove these files. To do so, right-click the file, and then click Remove.
f. When you are prompted to confirm the removal, click Yes.
g. Close the Downloaded Program Files window, and then click OK two times.

Moderator note:
Dicksite, I am posting this in all your threads on the same topic, since you obviously have a lot of time on your hands. Read the advice that was posted here, and dont spam the boards with the same questions. Use one thread to post your follow-ups. People are here volunteering to help, stop aggravating them.
I am going to close down all your threads except this: Jpeg no go in "save as", you may go look in all your other threads. As was stated before, this has nothing to do with egos; learn to be gracious about the help you receive.
