A new problem in Windows XP

Iam facing a new problem in windowsxp, when I start my computer ,the
starting windows xp display appears on the screen and after that the display becomes bad and then I dont see anything on the screen except for lines and dots. I have checked the RAM,took them out of the bank ,cleaned the bank and reinserted them ,but still even after that Iam having the same problem.

Can anyone guide me on this issue.

Regards,

What happens in safe mode? Are you able to try a different graphics card? Are you running the latest version of the driver for that card? If you think it could be RAM, try running memtest86 on it, probably overnight.

Try booting into Safe Mode (keep hitting the F8 function key after the first boot screen switches to the next). If you can see the Windows desktop in Safe Mode, the video driver may have gotten corrupted.

But if you get the same problem while in Safe Mode then the video card may be bad. Do you have a spare you can swap in to test with?
