Thumbs up The Jpeg thingy and egos vs help

Good day everyone

First, at least in my case, LiL Jimmie's advice was right on the mark . All attempts to use MS advice, Deleting temp.files and cleaning up downloaded program files and disk clean up, system restore, nothing worked, except his help. I haven't deleted this profile yet, which I think is corruted. I just created a new profile to use as my graphics handler or what have you.

In the last week or so there has been a huge amount of activitiy in upgrades for Firewalls,Virus difinications,MS upgrades and what have you, is it possible there is a serious worm infestion going on or trying to spread, just a thought.

I think my pc has been hit by a variant of the MyDoom worm called Bofia.A which just uncovered the first of Nov, of course I'm not sure, seems it can enter thru a MS flaw in Office 2002 and of course Win XP with Sp1 (but not Sp2),I'm running XP-Pro w/Sp2 and I have now upgraded my Office products with the latest upgrades. Go to MS and read Security Bulletin MS-04-028 for more info on these needed updates.

If this happened must I delete this old profile? What I mean is when I run it for other stuff will I spread any corrpution to other parts of the pc? If I delete this I think I will lose all my settings for my e-mail like address book, old messaages some of which I must keep, is there any way to bring these settings into a new profile? Of course if that's where the corrpution is!!!!

And finally look guys and girls, one trys to help, let all of us keep and open mind and try to check your egos at the keyboard and read all what has been said before we rush into typing OK!!

Thanks to all who help !!

Is there a question forth coming?

"I just created a new profile to use as my graphics handler or what have you."

Did this solve what ever the problem is?

The only problem we have, as said in your other thread, is starting new threads in the middle of working on an issue totally breaks the help chain - and you just did it again! This makes it impossible to "read all what has been said". It's not an ego issue.

Sit back for a minute. Read what you just posted. If you were someone else, and read ONLY that, where would you start to offer help? Probably by saying something that's been said at least twice before - if you even could deduce what the problem is. I would not have a clue what the problem is or what Jimmie said except I happen to be familiar with your other TWO threads.

In order to give this issue proper closure, I would like you to bring up your other 2 threads - and copy/paste peretinent sections from this thread and the second thread into new posts in your ORIGINAL thread so we have continuity. Then post links to the original thread in this thread and the second thread. Thank you.

Again someone is confused as I was yesterday because despite Moderator advice this is now the third post opened on the same subject. Unless you know that, it is hard to help. It really has nothing to do with egos. It has to do with proper posting etiquette. I thought that Little Jimmies advice was kind of rash given that he was suggesting the quite radical approaches of deleting the user, formatting the system, etc. I would not have thought that advice so rash if I would have known the history of this or if it had been posted all in the same thread instead of opening a new one. Now EzyStvy is offering the same advice that others have offered to you. If he knew the history, then he would probably not have offered that advice.

As an FYI, here are dicktsite's other posts on the same subject;
Jpeg no go in "save as"
"Save As" Is Selective-Jpeg vs Bitmap

I was aware of the other thread/s and I should have thrown the "Double/Triple Post" flag, but if I hadn't known of the other posts I would have suggested the same MS Kb workarounds as well.

You can import most of the data over to the new account but avoid anything dealing with the IE cache files/cookies or downloaded IE add ons like the ActiveX or Java objects.

Moderator note:
Dicksite, I am posting this in all your threads on the same topic, since you obviously have a lot of time on your hands. Read the advice that was posted here, and dont spam the boards with the same questions. Use one thread to post your follow-ups. People are here volunteering to help, stop aggravating them.
I am going to close down all your threads except this: Jpeg no go in "save as", you may go look in all your other threads. As was stated before, this has nothing to do with egos; learn to be gracious about the help you receive.
