Question xp boot problem

When windows xp tries to boot up, it says its missing a file for it to boot. It says to run the windows xp repair setup. My computer's cd-rom drive is broken and i do not have a floppy drive. I have read that you can boot through network connection. Does anyone know how to do this? i have the xp disk. I was wondering if I could hook up my computer with another that has a cd-rom drive and place he cd in that computer and run the cd through that computer. If anyone could help, it would be appreciated.

Welcome to PCMech! I'm not sure about the network boot, but it's an easy enough thing to replace the drive. If you could borrow the drive out of the other computer, it takes only a few minutes to open the case unplug two cables, and swap them out. New drives can be had for less than $30.
