wierd XP issues on fresh install.

ok here goes....so i formatted my 6Gb hard drive and went to do a fresh install....now the wierd thing is that for some reason it quits at various spots and different issues, the last one got to the part where it's install in the windows screen, and an error comes up when it's loading the "network settings" part. This time it stopped on the "installing windows components" part and said there was an error, when i clicked ok it just froze. This is an original windows CD and it's professional edition. tha computer is like this:

PAG-2130 mobo
maxtor 6GB HDD (complete with current diagnostics scan)
256MB RAM
floppy and 2 cd drives

thank you for your help.

(i'm sure i forgot something, just ask)
