Internet Explorer Favorites Folder
Hi,
I am running XP Home ed. I have installed a new hard drive and I am running the computer with both drives until I have the new drive updated. I would like to copy my Internet Favorites folder to the new drive. Would you please tell me where this file is located on the old drive. Thanks. Rob |

-Press the windows key + E
-Click on your old drive -Click on Documents and Settings -Click on Your name or the user name you used -You will see the Favorites folder expand this folder and make sure it has what you wnat -Then you can just drag that entire folder to your new hard drive -With windows xp your new drive should be shown in windows explorer and you can drag most every thing you want to update your new drive -And if you want I find it easy to click and drag things in windows explorer in the details view, but what ever is easiest |

1) Open IE.
2) Click File>Import and Export>Next>ExportFavorites. 3) Select the point you wish to export from, and click OK. 4) Give the file a name (it will be something.htm) and click OK. Click OK again when IE informs you that favorites were successfully exported. 5) Find the something.htm that you just exported your favorites to and copy it to your new machine. 6) Open IE on the new machine and select File>Import and Export>Import Favorites and browse to the something.htm file and select it. Click OK. 7) You have just got yourself a copy of your old favorites on your new machine. Advantage: In the other method (copying the Username\Favorites folder to the new machine) any hidden files will not be copied.
