Password change/error message

A friend just called with a problem on an older laptop running 98se. He had used it previously for his electrical business and was changing the logon/password info. After creating the new logon name, he was prompted to reboot. Did so and got an Error message: invalid system disk. remove disk.....blah, blah, blah. There are no cd's or floppies in any drive. Cannot access Safe mode. Any ideas?

Have you tried booting with the optical / floppy drives unplugged?

Problem solved. He's not sure what he did but he spent some time using his boot disk/help file and got it to work.

Just thought that maybe the floppy drive was bad, and was sending the invalid boot disk signal. Glad to hear it worked out though.
