XP Home, Dell 2400, unmountable_boot_volume

After doing a search through PCMech and all of the unmountable_boot_volume posts and replies, I can't find an answer to this one.

At the bottom of the blue screen with the error message, it says:

STOP: Oxooooooed (Ox81295bc8, Oxc000009c, Ox0000000, Ox000000)

I'm thinking I have a hardware problem because I cannot boot to any options such as safe mode, command prompt, etc. It just keeps coming up to the blue error screen
The lady had complained about a screen that would popup telling her to download music now, (malware?) Knowing her, she probably just turned the pc off.
Any ideas what the problem could be?

Carl

EzyStvy,

Thanks for the quick reply and link. I'll need to get the Dell XP disk from the lady to try to run the repair. I believe this pc still may have some Dell warranty left so I won't be opening it up.
The problem must be file damage caused by a virus or malware or even the customer as the unit was built by Dell and hasn't been opened.

Thanks again,

Carl

Good news, I think!

I'm using my WinXP Pro disc to run chkdsk /r on this Dell with XP Home.

So far it is working.
