I recently did a major cleanup on a Windows 98 machine using AVG7 and Ad-Adware. Found multiple viruses and Junk-Ware. After the computer clean-up I cannot resolve any websites. I can map to other computers with their IP Addresses, but I cannot surf the internet. Could junkware/viruses corrupt a system file that would cause this?

Very possible, try uninstalling Internet Explorer and then reinstalling it.

The computer has Netscape also and that wouldn't connect either. Is there anything else I could try before uninstalling IE?

make sure that any firewalls you might be running aren't set too tightly, this might be your problem, especially if you just went through your PC, cleaning things up.
