Ugh, there is no Full Academic Version of Windows XP Professional?

I am trying to find one, but can't seem too in a full retail boxed version. Is this impossible to find or did I just miss it? There however seems to be a wide array of Win XP Professional "Upgrade Academic" versions.

I don't think it exists. The upgrade will work from any OS from windows 95 up if you have an old copy around. If I remember correctly it can be done as a clean install and you just need the old disk to confirm you have an existing copy of windows. Also, if you are a student, you have to be a college student to get Microsoft's academic pricing.

I have a copy of the letter direct from our Microsoft rep... there is no such thing as an educational full version of Windows XP Home/Pro.... Upgrade ONLY.

Not a big deal tho... buy the upgrade... it's the full version... its just that during the install, it will ask you to insert your qualifying previous OS CD to verify that you qualify for the upgrade. You don't have to load your previous OS first.

Yep, just put in any Windows 9x or 2000 disc when prompted to. If you have one it's no big deal, it only takes an extra minute or so.

I'm actually considering going with a full version OEM of Media Center instead. ZipZoomFly is selling Media Center with the remote and receiver for $149 with free 2nd day shipping.
