DirectX9 with Windows Me issues?

Hi guys-

At my gf's this past weekend I was cleaning up some things, when I ran Windows update I noticed she was missing DirectX9 drivers, so I went ahead and dl'd/installed them. Since then, she cannot play any media files, play any games, nothing. Everytime she tried to open a Windows media player file, like an Mp3 for example, she gets an error stating she is missing required .DLL files. One such dll file is ddraw.dll.

Are there any known issues with compatibility between DirectX9 and Win Me? Or was installing the drivers just a coincidence and I'm looking at another unrelated issue?

Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

Try reinstalling the video card drivers (download the latest), then reinstall DirectX 9 from the redistributable.

Alternately, use System Restore to go back to last week before you started updating stuff. If everything works without DX9, leave it alone.

Excellent, that link you posted worked, I guess they just needed to be re-installed for some reason.

Thanks for the help.
