windows xp sounds

you know the sound windows makes when you log on and log out? how do i make it so it makes no sound, other than by turning the speakers off?

Go to your Control Panel, then click on "Sounds and Audio Devices". Go to the "Sounds" tab and scroll down in the "Program events box" until you see "Windows logoff" and "Windows logon". Double click on each of them and set the sound as "none".
