Question Uninstalling Windows XP - SP2 (built in)

How to remove Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) from a computer on which Windows was installed from a CD that also included SP2 (SP2 is a permanent part of Windows in that case)?

Thanks for all info

You can't. SP2 is already part of the Windows, and the pre-SP2 files do not exist on the CD.
Why would you want to remove SP2 anyway ?

The only way would be to do a repair install with another xp disk that did not have sp2. Unless you are having a problem that can be traced to sp2, there really is no need to remove sp2.

Let us know what the actual problem is and we may be able to offer a solution.

You have offered a solution without giving any information relating to the problem. The issue(s) you are experiencing may be completely unrelated to SP2 and the time it takes you to determine how to remove it could be spent correcting the root of the issue.

Thanks,
Stryker

repected mr. panama red - sometimes it's good to apply some brain before letting it out. thats what i'd suggest u.

first off - that post of mine did include this crjdriver: "Unless you are having a problem that can be traced to sp2" and NOT this "" alone! so one would 'know' that the person is having problems with sp2, and that was the reason behind that. but u don't have to consult any or try hard this time - 've fixed them all.

n.b. not writing all this for i am answerable to you or something. i'm sure ppl (like Stryker did, e.g.) knew what i meant. just to remove any confusions off your mind.

Thanks everyone for all info

I don't think it could be removed. SP2 is Windows now. You might have to do a reinstall of Windows with SP 1 or something if you don't want SP2.

What problems are you having?

I understood perfectly well what you were attemping to communicate to crjdriver. And I suggest you need to read the Foum Rules regarding how we handle flaming (which is what your current comment to me is an example of) and how we handle posters who bad mouth moderators. You may not be answerable to me personally but you are expected to abide by the rules of this Forum. I'm now closing this thread to prevent any further derogatory remarks.
