Windowos XP Pro Problem? :(

Hi guys !

Im having problems with my windows xp pro.

Every time i try to boot the windows xp pro from the cd-rom i get a message saying that the driver.cab is missing then i press escape it goes on istalling and 4-5 seconds before i have to enter the serial number the screen switches off once then comes back then switches of twice then comes back then switches of for the third time then the screen comes back asking me for the serial number. As soon as i type the number the whole system freezez.
Then i have to try it over again. Iv tried to isntall windows home edition but the same happes this time the driver.cab is not missing but the flicking of the screen 3 times happens and the screen frezzez at the end.

It's time to start checking your hardware.
First up, borrow a known working cd-rom from a friend and try the install with that.

Check your ram. The biggest majority of (hardware caused) setup problems is because a portion of the ram in defective.

It's time to take up Carl's suggestion and test your memory.
Go here : http://www.simmtester.com/
and download the memory tester to a floppy and run it.
Also please post your specs.

Memtest86+ is the best www.memtest.org

Anyways, could be mem, disc or CD-ROM device.

Replace CD-ROM, worked for me, had same problem last week.

Guys thnx for answering here and trying to help.
I finally got somebody in and he found out that the motherboard was no good.
He changed the motherboard, and now everything is fine.
