windows problem

ok i was wondering if i could use my windows xp home edition for my new computer i built myself. the windows prog is based for an hp computer and every time i try to install it starts but then it freezing like a 1/3 of the way into it. I was just wondering if the problem was the cd or if it is because i installed something on my computer

You can't use the hp windows disk on another computer. It's keyed for that specific computer so it won't install on another one.

First, it looks for an HP BIOS. If it can't find one, the installation will not proceed.

Also, it is an image of the O/S for the specific HP model, not an actual O/S installation.

well thanks a lot so i guess it probably isn't anything to do with how i built my computer i guess im just going to have to buy another windows
