win2k pro O/S webmail cox.net error
Windows 2k/pro on dell's GX280's,260's/ this only happens on 3 PC machines. The webmail authentication redirects to an error message of 'timed out email" The webmail authentication is fine on yahoo.com, hotmail.com, and sbcglobal.net webmail interface.
What I've done thus far; 1) cleared cache/cookies reboot 2) tried other browsers- same results 3) tried trusted http in the IE6.0 4) checked and uncheck proxies 5) regedit to cache disk1 and cleared out redirect web page 6) made sure username and passwords are correct 7) updated all with the latest patches 8) enabled java script. activeX on IE6 9) Anyideas- at all would be greatly appreciated. This problem is inherent to the machines build- windows2k pro...I'm going nuts! help! doyledrexel@hotmail.com |

Are you sure that the server isn't experiencing any interruptions? Have you tried it explicitly with a browser on another OS to see if its working? Just because webmail is fine for yahoo etc etc etc doesn't mean that its an issue with your OS or a browser, if you are experiencing issues with webmail.cox.net

thanks for the reply..BUT
Hi,
thanks for the reply. I'm still stuck with the same issue. The server, webmail.cox.net, is up an running at the time of trying cox.net webmail; further the log in works fine on another machine on the same segment. It's only two machines in the entire office that has the problem. And it seems to be connected somewhere in the registry. Webmail.cox.net is working and the problem is seems be very odd? I just cannot figure it out!. Still working on it...anymore ideas would be appreciated. |

Have you checked the hosts file for entries other than the default localhost 127.0.0.1?

Easiest way is download HijackThis and run it - it has a basic hosts file editor.
