icons stuck

removed isp software (ATT)

attempts to delete desktop icons result in error message :"cant read from file/source disk"

How can i remove these stuck icons from the desktop?

ps--get same message if try to move them to recycle bin or "my documents" folder.

Did you use Add/Remove programs area to remove them? Usually that takes the icons too. Couple of things to try. Boot to SAFE mode and see if you can remove them from their. Or do a Search for ATT and when it shows the desktop shortcut (icon), try deleting from there. Think I'd do that in SAFE mode also.
