You need to be logged in as a user with admin rights to do the following:
1) Open registry editor (START > RUN > regedit) 2) If you would like to use a wallpaper (.bmp) you need to the following: a) Go to the key: HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop b) On the right you should see the key Wallpaper, double click on it and enter the absolute path to a wallpaper file .. for example: C:\Windows\picture.bmp If you do not have the key, you will need to go to EDIT > New String Value. The value name would be Wallpaper .. then double-click to change it to the path and file of the wallpaper. c) If you would like to tile the wallpaper, double-click the value TileWallpaper (or add the value as described in (b) and make the value 1 (remember that a value of 0 turns of tiling) (d) If you want to stretch the wallpaper, double-click (or add) the value WallpaperStyle to 2. (The TileWallpaper must be a 0 for it to work) 2) If you just want to change the background color go to: a) HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Colors\ b) Double click on the Background key and change the values. The values are in R G B; the default should be something like 0 78 152 .. meaning the Red component is: 0 Green is 78; Blue: 152 Remember the values above are case sensitive. HTH |
