msmsgs.exe?
How do I stop this service? I know this is msn messenger but I do not use it! it always runs in the background
I have went to the control panel> add/remove windows components and un-installed windows messenger...but still it runs in the background...it did how ever remove this list from the programs but if I click the link in IE it will fire up and run. How do I un-install this...there is no option in services.msc to disable this? or in msconfig....Terry

I searched this and copied it up from a previous thread: It worked for me, just be sure you know this is for WinXP:
Start > Run > RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove That should do it.
