Boot problem

ok so here is the deal, my friend tried to upgrade a windows 95 computer, and was under the impression you had to delete everything first, he mange to delete some file, i dont know what ones, the computer now restarts into does mode say it cannot load win.com. Also the computer is so old that it cannot boot from the cd rom. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Go to this site http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm. Download DOS 5.0 or DOS 6.0.
Install those files onto a floppy. Boot with that floppy.
a:
Format c: (or whatever your drive tag is).
Let the drive format, restart the pc with windows ME installation cd in drive, and the floppy. Once at the command prompt:
d: (the tag of your cd-rom drive)
dir
Type "setep.exe" then enter; or "install" then enter.
This should bring you into the windows ME installation.
(the reason I told you to format your drive first is because i am unaware if WindowsME has its own formating device)
Also, if the machine ran windows 95, the chipset may not support WindowsME, but it will certainly support 98,98 SE.
