XP Pro restarting when loading

Hi,

I run XP Pro with SP 2. Before last night, everything worked fine, and i had not recently installed anything new.

Now, whenever i try to start up, i pick between regular/last good confis/safe mode, etc, and when it arrives at the Windows loading screen with the bar, it loads for a few seconds and then restarts, and this keeps happening until i turn off the computer manually.

I can't get into safe mode, or any other mode.

I tried using my XP Disc, and doing a repair, but when i go to select the installation to repair, it doesn't notice the windows installation on my current partition of 80 gb, so i can't repair it.

I really want to avoid reformatting and reinstalling windows, so if any help or solutions can be given, many thanks!
