Cannot Delete certain desktop items.

Hello,
at some point or another i created a program on the desktop called 57.exe, i think it was something to do with battlefield 1942 or something. Anyway, i cannot delete it, when i try it states "cannot delete 57:it is being used by another person or another program, close any programs that might be using this file and try again." ok, so i try renaming it, wont let me. Next i tried booting into safemode and deleting it, got the same thing. Finally i got a program called "wholockme" that shows what program is using it. It says that it is being used by explorer. Any clues on how i can delete this?

Try booting to DOS and deleting the file from there. That should fix it. I don't exactly know how to boot to DOS (been a while since I did that). But use the cd command to go to the directory and del 57.exe.

You can also check if you can disable 57.exe from msconfig.

There is a program called "Sure Delete" that will get rid of anything. I'll try to find it.

Here it is

Caution...be very careful using this program, because there is NO recovery.

You could try going to "Explorer" (right click on "Start") navigate to "Desktop" & try to right click & delete from there.

Your no-adware program is obviously not working.
