Set the CD-ROM device as primary boot device in your BIOS

Cool

XP CD is bootable and XP will format and let you partition the drive. You will need to set the BIOS to boot from your optical drive that contains the XP CD.

You need to post the system spec's (mobo brand and model, CPU and HD). A SATA HD might require loading of SATA drivers from floppy during install depending on mobo and chipset whereas a IDE connected HD would not.

People on this forum will get you going, so don't worry. Just take it slow and anytime you don't understand ask how before proceeding.

Get a Win98 bootdisk fom www.bootdisk.com
create floppy
boot with floppy
type: fdisk
delete XP partition
create new partition
reboot
boot with floppy
type: format x: (x is ur driveletter)
re-boot with 98 floppy and type: setup while the 98cd is in ur drive

You didn't say if you were installing XP Pro or Home edition. Go to this site for step by step instructions for Home.

Go here for step by step instructions for Pro.
http://www.blackviper.com/Articles/O...tallxppro1.htm

Spend a few minutes on the above site (go to home page) to make your new computer really zing.

Adding another question to someone else's thread is considered "hijacking" of the thread and is discouraged here. You really should start your own thread. Now the answer to your question appears as a possible answer to the original poster and can confuse others that might read this in the future. Next time, please start a new thread.
