Stop: c0000221 Unknown hard error

when my pc is rebooted it stops with the blue screen.

The message is "Stop: c0000221 Unknown hard error \systemroot\system32\ntdll.dll"

it used to reboot a few times, then it would start fine and is stable until rebooted again.

What does the message mean?
How can I repair it?
Why has it happened?

Thanks for your help

Pissed

Thanks I already been there, thought that I'd post here to see if anyone else has been through this. Went through the standard TS from the MS website even tried to do a repair and reload the file from the CD and I still get the stop error. Next step is to do a complete reload of the OS. BTW I forgot to mention that the OS is XP pro SP1.

Thanks
Gene

Sorry, since you've tried a repair / file reload, I've nothing new to add.

Anybody else have any ideas?
