Please Help

i have the same problem as the guy in the Argah help thread.....
my dad's computer gets this error on startup "unable to load service configuration object: CurtainsSysSvc.ServiceConfiguration" and then the desktop has nothing on it, and there is no taskbar, all i can do is ctrl, alt, del to bring up the task manager


someone else got the exact same error, and statica responded by saying:

i reinstalled or tryed to reinstall, but after i waited about 15 min's, the computer rebooted, then the install screen came up, and then it said "cannot be installed right now, try again later"

so right now my computer is siting at the desktop, with no icons or a taskbar, and as the previous guy said, the only thing i can do is ctrl alt del, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

no the computer starts up, and a comcast securtiy manager box pops up (that appears to be working properly) but the desktop is still blank and all i can do is crl alt del, any suggestions....

If you are using WinXP, see if you can do a system restore. Start it up in safe mode.

i don't know how to do a system restore since all i can see is an empty desktop, and only ctrl alt del to get to the task manager, even in safe mode

Go into the task manager and under the "processes" tab, kill explorer.exe. Then go File > New Task and type "C:\windows\explorer.exe" (without quotes).

thank's a lot, i now did a system restore, to about a week ago, and everything is working, but we'll see if it messes up in a week

It won't mess up by itself in a week unless you do something that causes it to mess up.
