Question Help with XP please.

This is sort of hard to explain, esp for a computer illiterate.....you know when you first turn your computer on you have certain items that start up right away, like msn ect. Well there was this game my mom downloaded on her account "Wild Tangent" and she uninstalled it, don't think she did it properly though. When I went into my account a thing came up saying couldn't find the right files to run it so I went to the add/remove thing to just remove it but it said it was already removed and asked if I wanted to delete it from the list, I said yes. But that alert keeps coming up that it can't load the game when ever I restart the computer. Not sure why a game would automatically start like that anyways.

So how do I fix this? I searched for it and found it in the program files but everything was gone, so I just deleted the file....probably shouldn't have done that....but there was nothing in it. I thought maybe to go to the area where you say what you want to start up right away and what you don't but I don't know where that is.

Please help! Thanks!

Hi hitomi_54:
Welcome to PCMech.

The easiest way to see and prevent things from loading up is to go to START > RUN type msconfig and press OK.
Now go to the last tab that says STARTUP
You should see a list of things that get loaded when your computer starts up. On the list look for something like Wildtangent (or WildTangentCDA)
Uncheck the box beside it
Click OK and reboot your computer.
The first time you reboot, you should see a message saying that msconfig made changes etc etc.. check the box to prevent seeing the message again.

Hope that should do it.

Hmm.....When I went there there wasn't anything called WildTangent, or anything that looked like it. Must be called something else maybe?
