Its TOO Big ... how to make it smaller..?
Hi to all,
As a Newbie, i am having a problem when I download a web page , the page is always too big and I have to scroll left and right to see all the page, ive tried the display settings ( my setting is screen area 800X600, and high color ( 16 bit) ) but none of the settings seem to make the web page the right size to see it all with out scrolling..? any advice or comments would be most welcome thanks ..Star |

If your computer can handle a 1024x768 resolution, then that would be the way to do it, but that may not be the case seeing as how it is set on High color(16Bit) instead of 32 bit...
Most websites these days are designed for 1024x768 and anyone using smaller really kinda gets screwed. I don't know how to make the webpage smaller, since it depends on how they made it I assume, except for making your resolution higher. |

what kind of computer do you have, if it will not allow you greater than 16bit and 800x600 you probably need to get the latest drivers for the video. default drivers sometime will not allow 1024x768.

That, or maybe a new monitor (if the monitor only supports up to that resolution) or a new video card (if the video card only suppoprts up to that resolution). Sounds more like the video card if it's only at 16 bit high color. Integrated graphics perhaps? I know my old pentium I laptop only goes up to 800 x 600 resolution, yet webpages are usually fine on it -- I hardly ever come across one where I have to scroll side to side. Hmm.

Could also be your text size. Both IE and Firefox have a 'View' menu up top that lets you increase or decrese the size of the text on the pages you view. I just increased mine a bunch and had to scroll left and right as you mentioned.
More than likely, though, it is probably your resolution (as already mentioned). Increase to the next setting if there is one. If not, make sure your graphics drivers are installed to do so. If there still is no option, and you tried the text thing I said above, than I don't know. Dave

one thing you could also do is press Ctrl while operating the scroll on your mouse in IE and it will zoom you in and out (i freeked myself out when i accidentally discovered this and 1 letter took up 1/2 the screen)
