Windows XP Desktop-Where's it stored?
Ok, well I have an image as my desktop/background... I deleted the original file though and want to get it back... Now I would assume that since it's as my background it must be stored somewhere in some form that I could copy and save for later. Am I wrong? I don't want to do the Print Screen and paste into paint and crop route unless I have to... I would much prefer an image file of just the background, none of my icons or hidden taskbar... Any ideas?

Where did you save the original image from? Internet Explorer?
Some background image files are saved in the c:\Windows directory. Some (the ones from IE) are save in the c:\ Documents and Settings \your login \Application Data \Microsoft \Internet Explorer. If you saved it from some other program (like a image editor), look for the program name in the Application Data directory folder. Cricket

Awesome Cricket! Sure enough, hidden in "C:\Documents and Settings\Chris\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft" I found it... Turns out it was a .bmp, and I had searched my computer for *.jpg.... Hmm... Guess next time I will be sure to search for more file formats then the one I had assumed I saved it as.
Thanks again
