Question computer shuts down...HELP!!!

undefined i have had this computer for about 2 weeks and this morning when i tried to start it up it would get to the point where it says "windows is starting up" and shortly after that the computer just shuts down. i have a DELL DIMENSION 2350, WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION, PENTIUM 4, 55 GIG HARD-DRIVE, INTEL CELERON...
can somebody out there give me some advice on how to reset something on the comp, i cant go into and kind of folders or help section cause the comp shuts down before anything can open all the way. any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

If this unit is only 2 weeks old and you bought it new, my advice is don't even try to fix it on your own. Call Dell and let them handle it under your warranty. If you start messing with it in an attempt to effect repairs you may void your warranty.

Does it boot into Safe Mode?

What did you do to the computer just before this started? Did you install anything new? Update any drivers? Uninstall anything?

See if you can get into Safe Mode first. If you can get into Safe Mode, that tells us something and we can move on from there.

ok crickett, i'm back. i re-hooked the other comp up and tried to start it in safe mode. it opened up in safe mode but then just shut off. i tried to do it in RESTORE also and when i got to the box that ask when you want to restore it from it shut off. it seems like it gets to a point and overloads. is there a hidden reset button or something?

This sounds like maybe the Blaster or Sasser worm.

If it stays on long enough to open a command prompt, type shutdown -a
