Boot.ini problems

Hello,
My brother in-law recently had a crash and reloaded his entire system, Winxp. He had 2 operating systems on his old setup. He now has only one. His problem is that during bootup he is presented with an option of which operating system to boot to. What is the best way to either delete a portion of or modify the boot.ini file to not show the screen or to boot up to his one and only OS? He says the first option is the invalid one and the second option is his operating system.

Thanks

start-----run---type msconfig

got to boot.ini tab
that should list the boot sequence.
remove the lines referring to the other OS

someone else here may need to correct me on this, trying to do it from memory
