Do your AV and anti-spyware programs work?

Is there a problem for which you are trying to start in safe mode to fix? Maybe its causing that problem?

If it will, try running system restore and resetting your machine back to a point when you know all was well.

Yes it starts in normal mopde.
No there is not a problem that needs fixing.
Its a brand new box.
No spyware or AV APP's on it yet. Not going online with it.
I'll try sys res, but since its not 10 days old,,,,,

When in msconfig, there is a diagnostic start up. Is that the same as safe mode? I do not believe it is.

Since its a new box, I want everything working just right.
thanks
B

Diagnostic start up : http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d...b_tol_dxth.asp

I don't usually recommend formatting but since this is a new box you do have the option of starting over without too much pain.
