First of all, that is illegal, not that I care. Second, your serial won't work with another copy of windows.

Not a true statement. When I ran WIN98 I had 3 legal copies that I kept in my safe. I had a copied CD I left out that I used on all 3 PC's and would use the appropriate Product key for each one but the same copied CD for all three.

Interesting, maybe it is not the same for Windows 98, and Windoes 98SE? I have been constantly searching for the correct windows 98 book with the supplied key every time I needed to reinstall it (one belonged to my PC, the other 2 to my mothers' pcs). Two out of the three keys each time would never work. From personal experience, I would have to disagree with you, but it seems you have a different experience with the same issue, so who knows.

I've always had to use the correct CD. I've had multiple builds going on and when I'd slip up and put the wrong CD in, it'd spit it out telling me to put the right one in.
