W32Time Warning Event ID 36
I thought I had seen a thread on this forum concerning this issue, but since I can't seem to locate it, I will start a new one. I get this warning message 2-3 times a day in the event log. I switched from Windows time to the NIST time server, but that did not help any. I am running XP Home on a standalone computer with "always on" broadband connection. Anybody know why this warning is happening and what can be done to fix it?
Event Type: Warning Event Source: W32Time Event Category: None Event ID: 36 Date: 1/1/2005 Time: 4:44:14 AM User: N/A Computer: HOMECOMPUTER Description: The time service has not been able to synchronize the system time for 49152 seconds because none of the time providers has been able to provide a usable time stamp. The system clock is unsynchronized. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Thanks for your help Last edited by Theinkman; 01-01-2005 at 02:10 PM. |

MS KB Article concerning W32time
I read this article prior to posting on this forum. According to the article, the fix for this problem is in SP2. I am running SP2 and am still getting the warning. Also the article stated I could get a hotfix for this problem by calling the MS support line. I didn't really want to do this-thought I would try the forum here first. Bottom line? I still am getting these warning messages, still don't know what is causing them, and am not quite ready to call Microsoft yet.

If that article doesn't fix it, try different NIST servers or disable the time service - or live with the error.
